Our Little Helper

We have officially entered the ‘helpful’ stage around these parts. It was alluded to in this weekly photo, but I don’t believe I’ve really talked about it much otherwise. There doesn’t seem to bring Elliott more joy than to be able to help us with a task. His help is not always the most ‘helpful’ but the shear pride on his face more than makes up for any inconvenience it may cause.

He wants to help bring the groceries into the house, which he’d never be able to do on his own. So we make him in charge of something from one of the bags that he is responsible for bringing inside. He has also become quite the expert at putting the vegetables away in the fridge drawers and stacking up other items on the fridge shelves.

Elliott likes to help clean up the back patio with the broom and dust pan and when those are away, he’ll pick up the stray offending leaves and toss them over the fence for the gardeners to recycle. He also loves to help you through a print job. He very excitedly stands by the printer squealing with joy as each pages comes out and then proceeds to hand them to you, one by one. Hee!

One of his latest favorites is helping with the laundry. He is now an expert lint trap cleaner – pulling out the trap, wiping it off, putting it back in and throwing away the lint in the trash can. This particular ‘chore’ makes me giggle to no end.

We are now trying to figure out a way for Elliott to learn how to ‘help’ clean the shower…then I think we will really be set!

If you can get him to clean the shower and put the toilet down, that's really all you need! :)

Paul let Leila bring in a bottle of some kind of red veggie juice. She dropped it on the floor in the living room, and we had to clean up a whole liter of that stuff.
