San Diego County Fair

Neither Brad or I had been to the San Diego County Fair (formerly Del Mar Fair) since High School. But this year there were a couple things that gave us the push to go: 1) It would be Elliott's first time to see farm animals. (By the way, I think its funny that Elliott saw elephants, hippos, rhinos, giraffes and gorillas before he saw cows, sheep, goats, rabbits and pigs!). 2) Meagan's roller derby team was hosting a banked track tournament at the fair this year. (We haven't been able to go to any of the banked track events because of Elliott - they are a late night event and we are without a babysitter) and 3) I had Friday off!

We also took him through the petting zoo...which was odd because all the animals were behind fences (I can imagine why), so you couldn't really pet them, just feed them.

Elliott would only take one piece of food at a time...and he didn't want to give it to the animals. We will overlook the fact that he may have also tried a piece ;)

Then we made it to the first tournament bout. We saw the San Diego All Stars team devastate one of the visiting teams.

Probably because of the awesome bench managing Meagan was doing (you can see her in the cow boy hat on the right end and in the video below).

Elliott really enjoyed the match. As soon as we got to the arena, he was pointing at the girls skating around the track. He also joined in and clapped for the team...which of course, we never managed to get on video.

All in all, a very fun day and we look forward to going again next year!
