The New Children's Museum

I had an opportunity to buy us a family membership for The New Children's Museum for half price and jumped at it. While I do believe kids aged 4-6 would probably get the most out of the museum, they had a lot of great things set up for kids of all ages. In fact, their policy is that strollers should only be used for those who can't walk on their own. Since I took the week of Thanksgiving off from work (Brad's school always closes this week), we headed over to check it out on Monday.

By far the biggest hit of the day was the table full of blocks. Elliott literally gasped out loud when he saw the table.


This was the "rain room" which sounded like rain and was decorated very strangely.

The museum featured a life size Trojan Horse you could get into on the second floor.

And naturally, there was a bubble octopus. This was horrendously messy for all kids, but especially the little ones...

The market, complete with mini shopping carts.

The museum itself was a very open, lofty space and the elevator ride was quite impressive.

There was also an orange fuzzy-walled room with cameras and video projectors, strange pillows and orange stairs...needless to say, the orange stairs were his favorite part ;)

We also contributed a wish to the wish ring chandelier. I won't tell you what it said (you know, bad luck and all), but it might have had something to do with a very recently submitted application to a major university :D


All in all, we had a great time and look forward to going back!
